After a long time, there was a partial solar eclipse again today, with 87% coverage here in Hildesheim. A great opportunity for sidewalk astronomy!
C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS
Like in the last years, we also had a spectacular comet in 2024: Tsuchinshan-ATLAS was visible to the naked eye in October. Unfortunately, the visibility window was only short for us, but on October 15th we were able to spot the comet while driving home from vacation at the A23 car park close to the Kiel Channel.

During the last days the Kp index and the southwards component of the interplanetary magnetic field have been pretty strong, but unfortunately the weather wasn't clear. Today it was better in Hildesheim, and shortly after 23:00 I could observe significant activity from Moritzberg and it's Panoramaweg.
